Question: did Cathy Piskopos have an older sister, class of 80? I hung out with her a bit, as she was in some of my classes.

Maggie, I didn't go to Wilcox very long, so I don't know the whereabouts of the French teacher. I bounced around a bit my senior year, starting in San Francisco (the teachers were on strike), taking a calculus class at Buchser (junior college level) and ended up graduating at Peterson. They say every school you attend is an alma mater, but if I were to attend a homecoming, it would be at Wilcox, as Peterson became a middle school in 1982. The funny part is that I started high school in Illinois.

Maggie, sorry to hear of your loss. I created a subgroup dedicated to Wilcox alums who have passed on. Other than that, welcome to this site, and hope you reconnect with friends. Create a class of 86 and 85 for your sister Rula, so others can locate you easily when the site gets busy. You can create other subgroups of interest--it's rather easy with a couple clicks. Invite other Wilcox alums and hope you enjoy your stay on this site.

About me:
This is Maggie, updating on my sister Rula. Sadly on September 10, 2006 Rula passed away due to a motorcycle/car accident. She was married at the time, Calderon was her name. It was a major accident that shut down I-280 and was posted in the papers and on the news. If anyone would like to read about it, just google her name Rula Calderon, her full name was Nektaria.
Rula had begun vocational beauty college in her junior year at Wilcox, and she finished the same year she graduated from Wilcox. She moved back to San Francisco, in the summer of 85 and got her first job as a hairstylist. Doing hair was always Rula's passion, and she was so good at it. She married in 1989, and had 3 beautiful boys. Her oldest Daniel is 18, Michael will be 15 in December and Niko is 8. Those who were lucky enough to have known Rula, would remember one thing about her....she was always smiling and laughing. She lived life to the fullest...all the way to the end. I miss my sister and best friend. Kids at Wilcox did not believe we were sisters, because we looked so different, and the fact that we were so close. Rula is laid to rest in the Greek Orthodox Cemetery in Colma, CA. The picture above is sketched in her granite headstone, along with scissors and a comb...this is who she was....
What are your fondest memories of Wilcox High?

Mother of 3 killed.....

September 11, 2006

SAN FRANCISCO (Map, News) - Drunken driving is believed to have played a role in the fatal accident that claimed the life of a San Francisco mother of three and seriously injured a San Francisco man early Sunday, according to officials.

Nektaria (Rula) Calderon, 39, died after being ejected from the back of a Big Dog motorcycle driven by David Barry, 43, on Interstate Highway 280 near the John Daly Boulevard exit, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Broken Chain

Sister Dear,

Little did we know that evening of,

That God was going to call your name.

In life we loved you dearly,

In death we do the same

It broke our hearts to lose you...

You did not go alone;

For part of us went with you,

The day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories,

Your love is still our guide;

And though we cannot see you,

You are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken,

And nothing seems the same;

But as God calls us one by one,

The Chain Will Link A… Continue
